Matthew Pillischer

Matthew Pillischer is an activist, a lawyer, and a filmmaker. He is currently organizing screenings and discussions across the country around his new documentary, Broken On All Sides: Race, Mass Incarceration & New Visions for Criminal Justice in the U.S. (www.brokenonallsides.com). Described by Gladden Schrock as a “poignant present-tense call-to-arms” and by Elaine Brown as a movie “every conscious person in the world needs to see,” Broken On All Sides investigates the role of criminal justice in the United States as a form of racial and social control. It shows vivid examples of the human costs of mass incarceration, and offers ways to change it.
